Day 2 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup delivered two more results — and one of them has major implications for Korea's path through the tournament. Here is everything that happened on June 12 and what Korean fans need to know.
USA 4-1 Paraguay — A Statement from the Co-Hosts
The United States announced their arrival at this World Cup in emphatic fashion. A Paraguayan own goal in the seventh minute gave the USMNT an early lead and they never looked back.
Folarin Balogun, the 24-year-old striker, had a first-half brace — a brilliant poke into the corner and another finish with flair. Gio Reyna added a beautiful trivela to seal it. Paraguay pulled one back late but the final score was 4-1.
The USA dominated with 63% possession and 17 shots to Paraguay's 8. Paraguay's goalkeeper made 4 saves — the only reason it wasn't more.
This USMNT team looks serious. They are in Group C alongside Brazil and Morocco — but on this evidence, they can compete with anyone.
Canada 1-1 Bosnia and Herzegovina — A Historic Point
Canada earned their first ever World Cup point — and their first ever World Cup result on home soil. Substitute Cyle Larin scored in the 78th minute, just 121 seconds after coming on, to equalise after Bosnia and Herzegovina had led through Jovo Lukić's 21st-minute corner kick goal.
Before Larin's goal, Bosnia seemed set for the upset. Sead Kolašinac had cleared off the crossbar to deny Canada in the 53rd minute. But Larin's finish from a well-worked move rescued a point.
Canada had lost all six of their previous World Cup matches — in 1986 and 2022. This draw ends the drought. Both Canada and Bosnia sit on 1 point in Group B.
